RALEIGH, N.C. – It was a quick trip south for the Gallaudet University softball team as the Bison played two games here Sunday at the 18th annual Triangle Collegiate Softball Tournament at the Walnut Creek Softball Complex.
In the first game of the day, Gallaudet went up against Ferrum College and lost, 9-1 in five innings, to the Panthers.
Ferrum (3-10) built a quick 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning thanks to a two-run home run by Riley Young.
Gallaudet (2-7) responded in the top of the second inning as its first batter was first-year third baseman
Kinsley Bond (Beulaville, N.C.), who was making her first trip back home to the state of North Carolina. Bond felt right at home as she blasted a home run to center field. It was Bond's first collegiate home run.
Unfortunately, for the Bison that was their lone hit in the five-inning game.
The Panthers would plate five runs in the bottom of the second and tacked on one more in the third.
Junior pitcher
Lacey Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.) took the loss in the circle for the Bison.
