Box Score CLERMONT, Fla. – Spring Break officially began for the Gallaudet University softball team here Sunday at the Legends Complex as the Bison went up against Nazareth University at The Spring Games.
Gallaudet (2-10) loaded the bases in the third inning against the Golden Flyers but couldn't push across a run. Nazareth (2-1) scored at least one run in each inning as it defeated Gallaudet, 9-0, in five innings.
Junior starting pitcher
Lacey Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.) took the loss in the circle. It was Drolsbaugh that led the Bison offense with two singles in the first and third innings. First year
Kinsley Bond (Beulaville, N.C.) had the other single for the Bison in the third inning to load the bases with one out. Gallaudet's next batter struck out and its runner on third was picked off to end the threat for the buff and blue.
Nazareth slammed three home runs in the game, led by Macie Vetter's two-run shot in the bottom of the fourth. Vetter was one of three Golden Flyers to drive in two runs each. Morgan Russo had a solo home run in the first and a double in the fourth as Russo scored twice.
GU's second game of the day against Juniata College (4-6) was postponed due to storms that came through the area in the late afternoon. Unfortunately, that game has been officially canceled and will not be made up.
