ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Gallaudet University men's team finished out the 2025 Atlantic East Conference swimming championships here Sunday evening at The Aquatics Center at the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center on the campus of St. Mary's College of Maryland.
The final day of the competition began this morning with preliminary events in which GU swam for qualification in the finals that evening. A placement of 16th and above qualifies a swimmer for the final competition.
Day four began with the 200-yard backstroke. First year
Sean Berry (St. Augustine, Fla.) finished the race in ninth place with a time of three minutes and 14.48 seconds. Berry's teammates
Matteo Giansanti (Rome Italy) and
Eric Sarnouski (Rahway, N.J.) finished right behind him in 10th (4:03.59) and 11th place (5:33.73), respectively.
In the 200-yard breaststroke, first year
Alex Wilding (Santa Fe, N.M.) finished seconds before junior teammate
Abdullah Alghamdi (Dammam, Saudi Arabia), who finished seconds before first-year teammate
Driss Oukake (Amsterdam, Netherlands). The GU swimmers came in 10th, 11th and 12th, respectively, with times of 2:59.15, 3:15.85 and 3:19.25.
As the lone Bison to tackle the 1,650-yard freestyle, first year
Allen Davis (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) swam the lengthy event and earned ninth place with a time of 30:26.77.
In the final race of the night, GU's 400-freestyle relay team of Berry, Alghamdi, Wilding, and Davis swam to fourth place (4:38.09) to conclude the meet.
Gallaudet landed fifth place out of five teams with 227 total points. The GU swimmers gave it their all this championship weekend, most of them attending an AEC swimming championship for the first time and many achieving personal best times since the start of the season.
Marymount (Va.) University took home the championship with an untouchable 917 team points. St. Mary's College of Maryland secured second with their own astounding score of 825 points. Leaving it all in the pool, Immaculata University leaned on its reserves to surpass Marywood University and nail third place with 273. Marywood did not fall too far behind in fourth (264) followed by Gallaudet in fifth (227).
