WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University men's volleyball team dropped a home tri-match here Saturday against Neumann University and University of Lynchburg in the Field House.
Gallaudet (0-9) won the first set against Neumann by the score of 25-19 before the Knights took the next three sets 20-25, 18-25, 14-25 for the 3-1 win.
The Bison had a chance to rest before facing the Hornets in the third and final match of the tri-match. Lynchburg strolled past Gallaudet, 3-0, as the Hornets won 25-16, 25-16, 25-13.
Lynchburg (6-7) defeated Neumann (3-5) in the second match of the day in straight sets 25-13, 26-24, 25-20.
Neumann is an associate member of the United East conference for men's volleyball but today's match against Gallaudet was considered non-conference. The Bison will visit the Knights on March 24 for a conference match.
On the day, Gallaudet first-year opposite
Zachary Bippus (Fishers, Ind.) led the team with 16 kills and 18 digs combined in the two matches. First-year setter
Troy Holcomb (Fremont, Calif.) recorded 33 assists in two matches. Holcomb had 21 assists in the 3-1 loss to Neumann.
First-year libero
Elian Zfati (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished the day with 26 combined digs (18 vs. Neumann) while
Elijah Watters (Victorville, Calif.) led the Bison with four aces (two in each match).
First-year outside hitter
John Scarboro (Austin, Texas) led the Bison with four blocks (one solo) against Lynchburg. The Hornets had 10 blocks against GU.

Gallaudet will hit the road and travel to Pennsylvania this Wednesday, Feb. 19, to take on Eastern University (10-5).
