Bison get stung by Shenandoah on the road in season finale

WINCHESTER, Va. – Gallaudet University's first season in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) came to an end Saturday night as the Bison traveled to Shenandoah University.

Gallaudet (1-8, 1-7 ODAC) had its hands full with the Hornets and were overpowered by the tune of 52-14.

Shenandoah (7-2, 5-2 ODAC) turned its first possession over on downs at the Gallaudet 7-yard line as the Bison defense stopped the Hornets on 4th and 1 with tackles by senior Jacob Hundley (McKee, Ky.) and sophomore Braxton Heffelfinger (Parma, Idaho). SU scored on the next eight possessions including seven straight touchdown drives.

GU marched down the field on the opening drive of the second half to get on the scoreboard. The Bison covered 67 yards on eight plays in just over a four-minute span that ended with a touchdown. First-year running back Dakota Fisher (Lake City, Fla.) scampered 25 yards into the end zone. The two-point conversion failed as the Bison trailed 35-6.

The Bison had another long drive in the fourth quarter that resulted in a touchdown. Gallaudet used 12 plays to cover 60 yards in six minutes and converted the two-point attempt. Senior Andrae' Green (Washington, D.C.) caught a three-yard pass from Isaiah Baxter (Riverside, Calif.) at the 4:57 mark.

Gallaudet finished the game with 305 offensive yards (131 yards on the ground). Fisher had more than half of GU's rushing yards with 78 on 11 carries and he caught three passes for 46 yards. Senior running back Carter Johnson (McCall, Idaho) ran the ball 17 times for 55 yards.

Hundley and fellow senior Zefan Nathanson (Manor, Texas) led the Bison defense with 10 tackles each in the loss.
