GU falls to Brooklyn on the road

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Gallaudet University women's basketball team traveled to the Big Apple on Saturday afternoon to face Brooklyn College in a non-conference game at the West Quad Center.

Gallaudet (0-4) started slow against the Bulldogs as Brooklyn opened the game with a 23-4 lead in the first quarter and extended its advantage to 49-14 at halftime. GU kept things close in the second half, where Brooklyn held a narrow 27–26 edge, but the first-half deficit was too much for the Bison as the Bulldogs went on to win 76-40.

GU had three players score in double figures. Sophomore forward/guard Mackenzie Schirg (Factoryville, Pa.) finished with a team-high 14 points, grabbed eight rebounds and passed for three assists. First-year forward Natalie Greene (Fresno, Texas) recorded her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, along with four steals and two blocks. Sophomore forward Sophia Wascher (Noblesville, Ind.) was the third Bison in double digits, finishing with 10 points.

Brooklyn (5-0) was led by Anna Kitch's 15 points, nine rebounds and four assists.
