SALISBURY, Md. - The Gallaudet University women's cross country team finished eighth at the 36th annual Don Cathcart Invitational hosted by Salisbury University on Saturday afternoon at WinterPlace Park. Gallaudet had 216 team points.
Eight teams participated in the 6K meet. The host Sea Gulls won the race with 24 team points as they had three runners in the top four. Christopher Newport University placed second overall with 48 points followed by Delaware State University (77), Virginia Wesleyan (117), Goucher (131) that finished in the top five.
Salisbury junior Rachel Roberts won the 6K race with a time of 22 minutes, 10 seconds out of 64 runners.
First year
Lou Cherena (El Paso, Texas) was the first Bison to finish in 46th overall with a time of 29:56.40 and it is her new career best. Junior
Olivia Armstrong (Rotterdam, N.Y.) was the second Bison to finish in 55th place with a time of 36:20.20. Next Bison runner was first year
Liberty Morales-Juan (Oklahoma City, Okla.) who finished 59th place (38:48:20). All three runners' times were their career best.
GU's final two runners included first year
Thu Nguyen (San Bernardino, Calif.) and sophomore
Xin Lu Wall (Peshastin, Wash.) who finished in 61st and 62th place, respectively, with times of 40:08:00 and 41:50.20. This was their career best for Nguyen and Wall as well.
