LANCASTER, Pa. - The Gallaudet University women's cross country team participated in the second meet of the season here Friday afternoon at the Charger Invitational hosted by Lancaster Bible College. Gallaudet finished fifth overall with 112 team points.
The United East Conference was well represented as four members ran in the women's 5K race which featured five teams.
Lancaster Bible and McDaniel College tied for first-place with 33 team points but the host Chargers won due to a lower total time of 2:01:28 compared to 2:01:39. Penn State Harrisburg finished third with 81 points followed by Notre Dame of Maryland University in fourth (86).
McDaniel sophomore Maya Colavito won the 5K race with a time of 20 minutes, 59 seconds out of 36 runners.
First year
Lou Cherena (El Paso, Texas) was the first Bison to finish as she crossed the finish line 19th overall with a time of 28:33.3. First year
Liberty Morales-Juan (Oklahoma City, Okla.) was the second Bison to finish in 27th place with a time of 34:01.9, Close behind was fellow first year
Thu Nguyen (San Bernardino, Calif.) in 29th place (36:01:9).
GU's final two runners included sophomore
Xin Lu Wall (Peshastin, Wash.) in 34th place (39:36.0) and first year
Catelina Martinez (Littleton, Colo.) in 35th (39:40.3). This was the season debut for Wall and Martinez.

The Bison will next travel to WinterPlace Park in Salisbury, Md., to run in the Don Cathcart Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 2 p.m..
