WASHINGTON - Gallaudet University women's triathlon head coach
Brian Bennett has announced the inaugural 2024 schedule. In the program's first official year of competition, the Bison have four regular-season meets plus one regional meet and nationals meet if individuals qualify.
Gallaudet's first triathlon event will take place on Sunday, Sept. 1, in Charlottesville, Va., as the Bison participate in the Cal Tri Charlottesville event at Fry's Spring Beach Club.
A week later, the Bison head back to the Commonwealth of Virginia to compete at the Patriots Triathlon Festival at the Jamestown Settlement in Williamsburg, Va., on Sunday, Sept. 8.
Gallaudet will drive north to the state of Pennsylvania in Beaver Falls to participate in the Duquesne University Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 14, as the event will be held at Brady's Run Park.
The Bison will complete a busy month of September at the Robious Landing Triathlon in Midlothian, Va., at Robious Landing Park on Sunday, Sept. 29.
GU will have two weeks to prepare for the East National Qualifier being held at Lake Norman State Park in Troutman, N.C., on Saturday, Oct. 12.
If the Bison have any triathletes qualify for the Women's Collegiate National Championships that will take place on Saturday, Nov. 9, in Clermont, Fla., at Lake Louisa State Park.
Women's triathlon is a NCAA Emerging Sport that currently has 42 schools sponsoring the sport according to USA Triathlon. This fall sport is currently a recognized varsity sport at all three NCAA divisions. Teams of at-least three student-athletes will compete in four to six meets in a sprint format.
