Gallaudet drops twice against Penn St.-Abington

WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University softball team dropped a United East Conference doubleheader here on a nice weather Wednesday afternoon to Penn St.-Abington.The visiting Nittany Lions (13-11, 7-3 United East) swept the Bison (4-16, 0-10 United East) 6-4 and 7-2.

In first six innings, Gallaudet was down by five runs and, then in the last inning Bison had three runs rally lead by Sophomore Christina Elsbury (Uniontown, Ohio) who hit one run single RBI and first-year Andi Sisemore (Arlington, Texas)'s big hit with two run triple. 

Sophomore pitcher Lacey Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.) took the loss in the circle as she threw a complete game and struck out eight. Sisemore leads the team with two hits (one triple). First-year Alina Williamson (Frederick, Md.) and Elsbury tallied singles for the buff and blue.

In the second game, Elsbury tied the game by hitting an RBI groundout in the first inning. First year Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) stole home to get GU on the scoreboard in the fourth inning. Perry had three stolen bases.

Penn St.-Abington scored two runs in the second and third innings after it led 1-0 after one inning of play.

Elsbury recorded the loss with a complete game and one strikeout.

UP NEXT
Gallaudet will next host Lancaster Bible College (8-15, 2-6 United East) this Saturday April 13th for a United East doubleheader with first pitch set for 1 p.m. The Bison will celebrate their seniors during Senior Day that will begins at 12:45 pm.
