WASHINGTON. - The Gallaudet University men's basketball team won a critical conference game here Saturday to begin the month of February as the Bison defeated Penn St.-Abington, 71-62, in a United East Conference (UEC) game in the Field House.
Gallaudet (3-19, 2-7 United East) outscored Penn St.-Abington (8-14, 1-8 United East) 31-28 by Senior guard
Rory Lewis (Frederick, Md.)'s stellar 1st half performance with 12 points in the first half. At the 3:38 mark, Nittany Lions were up by 1 with 24-23 and Bison replied with back to back 3-pointers by Lewis and Sophomore guard
Samer Sawan (Toronto, Ontario.) to take the largest lead by three points. There were eight lead changes and the score tied four times during the first half.
In the 2nd half, GU controlled Penn St.-Abington with 40-34 in the 2nd half with the help of the team's 20 free throws made. Bison jumped with 23-13 run at the 11:37 mark and able to stay the lead until Nittany Lions bounced back and cut into down by three with 65-62 at the 2:54 mark and Lewis replied with clutch three pointer to have comfortable lead at the 2:34 mark and able to finished the critical win.
Gallaudet had three different players in double digits. Lewis scored tied team best with 19 points. Lewis passed out two assists and grabbed two rebounds. Junior forward
Blessed Mbogo (Silver Spring, Md.) had tied team best with 19 points, grabbed nine rebounds and two assists. Junior forward
Brandon Chung (Kahului, Hawaii) recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Nittany Lions had four players in double figures led by guards Kobe Devine and Christian Niles who scored 15 points each.
BISON TRACKS
- Junior center Alex Antsiferov (North Charleston, S.C.) added seven points and grabbed eight rebounds
- Sophomore Bruce Brewer Jr. (Santa Fe, N.M.) added three points and passed out six assists
- GU had season high 21 free throws made and 29 free throw attempts
- The Bison had six blocks that are also tied a season- high mark

Gallaudet will travel down to take on St.Mary's College of Maryland (12-10, 7-2 United East), this Wednesday, Feb. 7, at 5 p.m. to play a conference game. Both teams will meet again for the third time in this season.
