ROSEMONT, Pa. – A career milestone was achieved here Saturday as Gallaudet University women's volleyball senior
Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) tallied her 1,000th career kill in a Bison uniform.
Perry achieved the mark with her second kill in the third set as Gallaudet led 10-6. Perry finished the match at Rosemont College with 10 kills as the Bison swept the Ravens in straight sets, 25-7, 25-4, 25-16. Gallaudet (27-4, 10-0 United East) complete the regular season with an undefeated conference record and a 19-match win streak.
The upcoming United East tournament will run through the nation's capital as Gallaudet is the No. 1 seed and will host throughout. The Bison receive a first-round bye and will host a quarterfinal match next Saturday, Nov. 9.
GU the nation's leader in service aces finished the match with 17 led by junior libero
Nicole Hicks (Corona, Calif.), who had a career best eight aces to go with a match-high 11 digs.
GU now has 397 aces for the season which surpasses its previous team record (in 25-point scoring format) of 393 set in 2010.
Junior setter
Ella Gamble (Cullowhee, N.C.) passed out 29 assists and served up three aces. Gamble leads NCAA Division III with 114 service aces and an average of 1.04 aces per set.
Rosemont (2-20, 1-9 United East) was paced by Madeline McCarthy's four kills and seven digs to complete the season for the Ravens.
UP NEXT
Gallaudet will face either eighth-seeded Keystone College (25-9, 7-3 United East) or ninth-seeded Saint Elizabeth University (14-20, 4-6 United East) in the quarterfinal round in the Field House on Nov. 9. The game time will be announced after the conclusion of the first-round matches. GU did not face either team this season.
