WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University men's swimming team lost 174-16 to Marymount (Va.) University in the home opener for the Bison here Saturday in the Field House Pool between the two Atlantic East Conference opponents.
Gallaudet (0-3, 0-1 Atlantic East) dropped every event to Marymount (1-2, 1-0 Atlantic East), who swept the 11 events.
A fairly new team, many of the Bison swimmers found themselves in the GU competition pool for the first time this season. A trio of GU men's soccer players traded in their cleats for swim caps as first-year swimmers
Josh Rodriguez (Tampa, Fla.),
Matteo Giansanti (Rome, Italy) and
Samson Abraham (Seattle, Wash.) finished fourth (31.94), fifth (34.59), and sixth (38.09), respectively, in the 50-yard freestyle.
First year
Alex Wilding (Santa Fe, N.M.) finished fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:32.87) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:54.14).
BISON TRACKS
- Sean Berry (St. Augustine, Fla.), Wilding, Sethan Rolofson (Gardner, Kan.) and Allen Davis (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) were third in the 200-yard medley relay (2:27.77)
- The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Abdullah Alghamdi (Dammam, Saudi Arabia), Giansanti, Berry and Davis were third (2:03.03)
- Alghamdi was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:06.24)
- Davis was fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:50.92)
