WASHINGTON - It has been a decade since the Gallaudet University women's volleyball program hosted a conference championship match in the Field House. The top-seed Bison will step onto Padden Court this Saturday, Nov. 16, at 5 p.m. and go up against second-seed Lancaster Bible College in the United East Conference championship match. The winner of the conference championship will receive an automatic bid into the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship.
Gallaudet (29-4), the defending United East champions, will place its 21-match win streak and perfect 16-0 home record on the line against the Chargers (25-6). The two teams met last month (Oct. 23) in the nation's capital as the Bison won in straight sets; 25-19, 25-10, 25-21. Since that setback Lancaster Bible has won seven of its last eight matches.
This will be the first time Gallaudet has faced Lancaster Bible in the championship match. GU is 4-0 all-time against the Chargers in the playoffs. Last year, GU defeated LBC in straight sets in the Volt Division Final to advance to the United East championship match.
Overall, GU is 15-2 all-time against Lancaster Bible since 2011.
The Bison will be going after their 10th conference championship since it joined the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) in 2010 and the third under the United East umbrella. Gallaudet is 9-1 all-time in NEAC/United East championship matches, including winning seven straight when it joined the NEAC.
Lancaster Bible will be making its second appearance in a United East/NEAC championship match. The Chargers lost to Morrisville State in 2018.
