WASHINGTON - An overflow Homecoming Weekend crowd got to witness two Gallaudet University women's volleyball victories here Saturday in the Field House on Padden Court as the Bison hosted a tri-match.
Gallaudet (23-4, 6-0 United East) rolled to a quick 25-6, 25-12, 25-12 win over conference foe Penn College (3-20, 1-7 United East) in the opening match of the day. The Bison, the No. 1 team in NCAA Division III for service aces, recorded 19 against the Wildcats in the straight sets win. Junior
Citrine Lummer (Frederick, Md.) led the way with six aces while fellow junior libero
Nicole Hicks (Corona, Calif.) tallied five aces and 14 digs.Â
The second match saw McDaniel College (10-7) sweep Penn College by the score of 25-18, 25-19, 25-17.Â
In the third and final match, Gallaudet defeated the Green Terror in four sets; 25-12, 22-25, 25-13, 25-16. Sophomore outside hitter
Brielle Worley (Amarillo, Texas) led the way with a match-high 19 kills on 40 swings and only one errors for a hitting percentage of .450. Senior opposite
Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) and Lummer finished with 12 kills each. Perry added five blocks (two solo) and Lummer completed the double-double with 12 digs. Junior setter
Ella Gamble (Cullowhee, N.C.) passed out 45 assists and chipped in two of the 12 aces and made two blocks.Â
