TOWSON, Md. – The Gallaudet University women's cross country team finished fourth at the Coach Caslin Classic here Friday afternoon on the campus of Goucher College.
The Gophers won the home meet with 18 team points as Goucher had five runners finish in the Top 9 spots. University of District of Columbia was second with 44 points followed by Coppin State University in third (71) and Gallaudet in fourth (77). There were only four teams that had five runners finish the race to earn a team score. Four other schools were represented in the race for a total of eight.
Goucher's Tanise Thorton-Fillyaw won the 6K race with a time of 23 minutes and 34.06 seconds in a field of 33 runners.
Gallaudet's first runner to cross the finish line was first year
Lou Cherena (El Paso, Texas) in 11th place with a time of 30:32.12.
First year
Liberty Morales-Juan (Oklahoma City, Okla.) crossed the finish line in 16th place (32:58.82) followed by junior
Olivia Armstrong (Rotterdam, N.Y.) in 24th place (35:25.60).
The Bison completed its team scoring with first year
Thu Nguyen (San Bernardino, Calif.) in 27th place (35:57.53) and sophomore
Xin Lu Wall (Peshastin, Wash.) in 31st (38:33.48).
First year
Catelina Martinez (Littleton, Colo.) was the sixth Bison runner to complete the race in 32nd place (38:33.48).

Gallaudet will rest up the next several weeks before participating in the 2024 United East Conference championships on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Oak Ridge Park in Hughesville, Md., hosted by St. Mary's College of Maryland.
