WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior guard
Rajena Guettler (Frederick, Md.) scored a career best 25 points to lead Gallaudet University to a 71-57 victory on the road Saturday at Penn College of Technology in a United East women's basketball game.
Guettler made 11 of 18 shots from the field to tie a career-high and grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds in the win. The 5-foot-7 guard made 7 of 11 shots in the second half as Guettler tallied 14 points.
Gallaudet (12-6, 5-1 United East) has won six straight games to begin the month of January as the Bison reach the halfway mark in the conference schedule.
Guettler was one of three Bison to reach double digits as fellow senior
Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) chipped in 20 points, 15 rebounds, four steals, four assists and three blocks. First-year forward/guard
Cam Lexow (Abington, Pa.) added 10 points, five boards and two assists in the win.
Penn College (5-14, 1-5 United East) started the game strong and led 21-17 after the first 10 minutes of play.
GU used a key 15-0 run during a six-minute stretch in the second quarter to take a 34-24 lead. The Bison led 39-28 at the half as the buff and blue outscored the Wildcats, 22-7.
The game was close the rest of the way, but the second quarter outburst was too much for Penn College to overcome.
