WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University men's swimming team dove back into the pool here Saturday in a home Atlantic East Conference meet against Marymount (Va.) University. GU's four swimmers were no match for the Saints as the visitors rolled to a 158-17 win in the Field House pool.
The Bison four continued to push themselves and set several personal records (PR) in the process.
Sophomore
Abdullah Alghamdi (Dammam, Saudi Arabia) improved on his 200-yard IM time by 25 seconds with a new best time of 3:09.02. Alghamdi recorded a second PR in the 100-yard freestyle (1:12.12).
Similarly, first-year
William Nichols (Beavercreek, Ohio) obtained his own personal record in the 100-yard backstroke (1:06.50).Â
All four swimmers, first-year
Santiago Paiva (Louisville, Colo.), sophomore
Trent Mora (Austin, Texas), Alghamdi and Nichols competed in the 200-yard freestyle relay which finished third with a time of 2:05.80.
Marymount (6-1, 4-0 Atlantic East) won all 10 events.Â

Gallaudet (1-7, 0-3 Atlantic East) will next travel to Scranton, Pa., to take on conference foes Cabrini University (0-4, 0-2 Atlantic East) and Marywood University (4-4, 1-0 Atlantic East) next Saturday, Jan. 20, at 1 p.m. on Marywood's campus.
