WASHINGTON - The Bison baseball team was held to no runs in both United East Conference games played here Saturday against Lancaster Bible College as Gallaudet University lost 14-0 and 4-0.
Gallaudet (7-23, 1-11 United East) only had one hit in the first game when junior catcher Salvador Diaz (Norwalk, Calif.) doubled in the bottom of the fourth inning to break-up the no-hit bid from Chargers starter Colin Brubaker (1-3).
Lancaster Bible (8-17, 5-7 United East) scored four runs in the first two innings and added three runs in the third to build an early 11-0 lead and the Chargers never looked back.
In the second game, GU recorded three hits as Diaz collected another hit against the Chargers.
LBC had a harder time against senior starting pitcher Austin Sliva-Wynne (Rosenberg, Texas), who threw seven solid innings for the Bison.
The Chargers scored single runs in the third, fourth, seventh and eighth innings and finished the game with 14 hits.
Sliva-Wynne (2-5) took the loss on the mound as he struck out three batters.
Gallaudet had not been shut out in any game this season until today's sweep, which was a pair of shutouts. The last shutout of the Bison came nearly a year ago on April 16, 2022, at home against Penn St. Harrisburg (L, 15-0).
