KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Gallaudet University softball team began its Spring Break trip on Monday with a non-conference game against North Park University. The Bison dropped the game 8-1 in seven innings.
Gallaudet (3-4) was set to play a second game in the afternoon against University of New England but rain showers and lightning caused the postponement of this game. The two teams will now play on Wednesday, March 15, at 9 a.m.
The Bison got on the scoreboard in the top of the third inning thanks to an error by the third baseman as freshman Lacey Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.) raced home as Gallaudet trailed, 4-1.
North Park (1-2) added a run in the bottom of the third and three runs in the fourth. The Bison finished the game with two hits.
Freshman Christina Elsbury (Uniontown, Ohio) took the loss in the circle as she threw a complete game and allowed eight runs (four earned) on eight hits, five walks and struck out five.
Aly Malicki (1-1) picked up the win for North Park as she recorded 12 strikeouts and walked four.Â
