WASHINGTON - It was a short trip for the Gallaudet University women's basketball team on Saturday as the Bison traveled over to the Brookland neighborhood in the District of Columbia to take on Trinity Washington University in a non-conference game. The Bison got out to a quick lead and never looked back en route to a 73-38 victory.
Gallaudet (5-5) received balance scoring from its entire team as 11 players logged 10 minutes or more in the win.Â
The Bison jumped out to a quick 19-8 lead in the first 10 minutes of play and led 46-16 at the break. In the second half, Trinity limited the Bison to only four points in the third quarter before GU finished the game with 23 in the fourth.Â
First-year guard
Cam Lexow (Abington, Pa.) had a game-high 20 points to go with five steals, four assists and two blocks. Junior guard
Claire Ruiz-Tucker (Frederick, Md.) added 14 points, six assists, three rebounds and three steals. The senior duo ofÂ
Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) and
Rajena Guettler (Frederick, Md.) chipped in 10 points each. Guettler tallied a team-high nine rebounds, four assists and three steals while Perry ripped down six boards, blocked two shots and had one steal and assist.Â
Off the bench, junior forward
Anya Pothorski (Columbus, Ohio) scored five points, seven rebounds and one block while first-year forward
Kate Aquino Uribe (Downey, Calif.) netted six points and two rebounds.
Four other Bison had two points each in the win.Â
Trinity (0-13) used a six-person rotation as Brenae Ford finished with a team-high 19 points and Victoria Murdock tallied 12 rebounds, a game-high mark.Â

Gallaudet will close out the 2023 calendar year next week in Gallatin, Tenn., with two neutral site contests held at Welch College. The Bison will go up against North Park University (2-7) on Dec. 19 and Central College (5-5) the following day (Dec. 20).Â
