WASHINGTON – The No. 1 seed in the United East Conference – Volt Division came to play here Tuesday night in the Field House as the Gallaudet University women's volleyball team rolled past No. 6 seed St. Mary's College of Maryland in straight sets, 3-0, in the divisional semifinal round.
Gallaudet (29-3) will host No. 2 seed Lancaster Bible College (18-10) in the Volt Division Final on Thursday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. The winner will advance to Saturday's United East Championship match at the home of the Skye Division champion.
GU only lost two sets against a conference opponent this season and those two set losses came to the hands of the St. Mary's Seahawks back on Oct. 4. The Bison trailed 2-1 on the road and rallied to win in five sets, 3-2. In that match the Bison had a .173 attack percentage and in the two sets GU lost it made a combined 14 attack errors and had an average attack percentage of .069. Gallaudet's road win at SMC was the first since the 2006 season.
The Bison got off to a hot start here Tuesday night in the Volt Division semifinal round against the Seahawks and never looked back en route to a 25-14, 25-11, 25-23 victory, to increase their win streak to 14.
GU posted a .265 team attack percentage and finished the match with 46 kills, nine blocks and four service aces.

Natalie Clayberg (Pella, Iowa) and junior opposite
Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) led the Bison with 11 kills each. Junior setter
Ella Gamble (Cullowhee, N.C.) passed out 36 assists while senior libero
Leila Sicoli (Austin, Texas) made a match-high 20 digs. First-year middle hitter
Jada Zarembka (Riverside, Calif.) made five blocks (three solo) while junior middle hitter
Anya Pothorski (Columbus, Ohio) made four blocks (one solo).
St. Mary's (12-16) was led by Julia Bobrowski (10 kills) and setter Alayna Sievert (14 assists, three aces) in the loss.
Gallaudet has won the last three home matches against the Seahawks and the last four consecutives matches against St. Mary's.

GU will face Lancaster Bible for the second time this season on Thursday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. The Bison defeated the Chargers, 3-0, back on Oct. 25. The Bison have won three straight matches against LBC and hold a 13-2 record dating back to 2011.
