Mbogo nets 21 points in home game against Shenandoah


WASHINGTON - Gallaudet University men's basketball team lost to Shenandoah University, 70-59, here Sunday afternoon on Padden Court in a non-conference game at Field House.

Gallaudet (0-7) played a strong second half where it made 52 percent from the field, which included four 3-pointers on six attempts. Shenandoah (5-0) outscored by Bison by four points, 35-31, during the final 20 minutes of play.

GU's defense stifled the Hornets down the stretch as the visitors didn't score a point the final four minutes and 46 seconds of the game. The Bison made five shots from the field, including two 3-pointers, to close the game on a 12-0 run. GU was able to cut the SU deficit down from 29 points, with 14 minutes left in regulation, to 11.

Junior forward Blessed Mbogo (Silver Spring, Md.) led Gallaudet with 21 points. Mbogo has scored 20+ points three times in the last four games. He shot 5 of 6 from the free-throw line and grabbed a season-high eight rebounds. Senior guard Rory Lewis (Frederick, Md.) scored nine points and grabbed five rebounds. Junior center Alex Antsiferov (North Charleston, S.C.) scored eight points off the bench.

The Hornets were led by guard Jaylen Williams, who tallied 15 points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists.

UP NEXT
GU will open up United East Conference - Volt Division play this Wednesday, Nov. 29, at home against Lancaster Bible College (1-3), the defending conference champions, at 5 p.m.
