WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University men's swimming team dropped a non-conference meet to Virginia Wesleyan University, 147-55, here Saturday afternoon in the Field House pool.
Gallaudet (1-3) won one of the 14 events as Virginia Wesleyan (1-0) took the other 13 events.
The Bison finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay as the team of sophomore
Sethan Rolofson (Gardner, Kan.), sophomore
Abdullah Alghamdi (Dammam, Saudi Arabia), first-year
William Nichols (Beavercreek, Ohio) and junior
Elan Markel (University Park, Md.) posted a time of 1:54.89 to conclude the meet.Â
Alghamdi won the 50-yard butterfly as he swam uncontested and touched the wall in 41.89 seconds late into the meet.
Markel took second in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle with fast times of 25.44 and 58.33, respectively. Markel also placed third in the 100-yard IM (1:08.28).
Rolofson finshed second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (14:00.69) and finished third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:13.36) and 500-yard freestyle (6:38.31).
First-year
Santiago Paiva (Louisville, Colo.) finished second in the 50-yard breaststroke (45.26) and third in the 200-yard freestyle (3:41.38).
Nichols finished second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:17.15 while Alghamdi followed in third (1:28.18). Nicholas also placed second in the 50-yard backstroke (32.57).
