WASHINGTON – It was Senior Night for the Gallaudet University women's soccer program as the Bison played host to Penn College of Technology in a United East Conference – Volt Division game under the lights at Hotchkiss Field.
Before the start of the game, Gallaudet paid tribute to its six graduating seniors;
Courtney Gentzke (Honeoye, N.Y.),
Ashley Harlicker (Shenandoah, Texas),
Lilian Nelson (Minneapolis, Minn.),
Dekisha Smith (Hutchins, Texas),
Marlena Rauber (Rochester, N.Y.) and
Ryane Smalley (Nicholson, Pa.).
Gallaudet (4-10, 0-6 United East) dropped a 10-1 decision to Penn College (10-1-7, 3-1-2 United East) as the teams played through a steady drizzle in the nation's capital.
Harlicker got the Bison on the scoreboard with a beautiful goal from 20 yards out, off a free kick, in the 88th minute to break up the shutout. That was Harlicker's 11th goal of the season.
Nelson made 13 saves in 90 minutes played in net for the Bison.
Kaelynn Sheetz, one of the top goal scorers in the United East, added to her season total of 20 with three goals netted against the Bison tonight.
Penn College led 8-0 at the half.
This was the final conference regular-season game for the Bison, who are eliminated from postseason play.
