Gallaudet gets back in the win column as Perry and Guettler combine for 41 points

ABINGTON, Pa. - Gallaudet University women's basketball team scored their third-most points this season as the Bison defeated Penn St.-Abington here Tuesday night in a United East Conference game, 72-65.

Gallaudet (3-12, 2-4 United East) used a big second quarter to rally from a 24-14 deficit after the first 10 minutes of play. The Bison outscored the Nittany Lions, 20-8, and took a 34-32 lead into halftime.

In the second half, it was all Gallaudet as the buff and blue scored 20 points in the third and 18 in the fourth as the Bison held on for the seven-point win. 

Junior forward Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) scored a team best 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the double-double to go with five assists, three steals and one block. Junior guard Rajena Guettler (Frederick, Md.) scored a season-high 18 points on 9 of 14 shooting from the field. Guettler added eight rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Sophomore center Anya Pothorski (Indianapolis, Ind.) and freshman guard Bree Goldstein (Riverside, Calif.) scored eight points each off the bench.

Penn St.-Abington (4-10, 2-5 United East) was paced by Cassie Tavormine's 25-point game while United East Player of the Week honoree Isabella Vazquez, fresh off a 50-point game last Saturday, was held to seven points and only one made field goal. 

UP NEXT
GU will head back to Pennsylvania this weekend for two more conference games. The Bison begin the trip on Friday, Jan. 20, at Penn College (3-11, 2-3 United East) in Williamsport, Pa., for a 5 p.m. tip.
