WASHINGTON – Gallaudet University men's basketball ran into a buzzsaw here Saturday in the Field House as the Bison went up against the first-place Chargers from Lancaster Bible College in a United East Conference game.
Gallaudet (1-13, 0-5 United East) had its hands full as Lancaster Bible (7-6, 4-0 United East) led from start-to-finish en route to an 83-57 win.
The Bison shot 43.5 percent from the field in the second half as they put up 35 points, after Gallaudet trailed 37-22 at the half.
GU was paced by junior guard
Rory Lewis (Frederick, Md.), who scored 14 points and made three 3-pointers. Senior guard
Preston Kelly (Indianapolis, Ind.) and sophomore forward
Brandon Chung (Kahului, Hawaii) scored eight points each. Sophomore
Blessed Mbogo (Silver Spring, Md.) made a team best eight rebounds to go with four points off the bench.
Lancaster Bible was too deep for Gallaudet as the Chargers played 16 players and received 14 or more points from three different players. Junior forward Andrew Zentner led all-scorers with 25 points off the bench in 23 minutes played. Zentner added nine rebounds, three blocks and one steal. Graduate student Jordan Shewbridge chipped in 22 points, seven assists and two steals while junior guard Seth Beers added 14 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

GU will hit the road next week for three conference games. The Bison begin the week at Penn St.-Abington (10-5, 4-2 United East) on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 7 p.m.
