WASHINGTON – The New Year is off to a great start for the Gallaudet University men's swimming program as the Bison won their first meet of the 2022-23 season here Friday afternoon in the Field House pool. GU defeated Immaculata University, 93-53, in an Atlantic East Conference meet.
Gallaudet (1-6, 1-1 Atlantic East) won six of the 10 events en route to the first victory of the year.
Freshman
Trent Mora (Austin, Texas) led the way as he won half of Gallaudet's first-place events.
Mora swept two freestyle events as he touched the wall first in the 50-yard freestyle (26.75), 100-yard freestyle (1:01.47) and completed the trifecta with a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:27.92).
Sophomore
Jules Yance (Danville, Ky.) started things off for the team with a win in the 1,000-yard freestyle (14:35.27). Later in the meet, Yance came in first in the 500-yard freestyle (7:02.75).
GU's sixth first-place victory came from senior
Nick Hohrman (Fergus Falls, Minn.) as he finished first in the 200-yard IM (2:47.23).
BISON TRACKS
- Hohrman placed second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:14.04) and 200-yard freestyle (2:14.25)
- Freshman Keegan Wheeler (Brewerton, N.Y.) placed second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (16:21.83) and third in the 100-yard backstroke (1:41.77)
- Freshman Sethan Rolofson (Gardner, Kan.) took second in the 200-yard IM (3:07.79), 500-yard freestyle (7:19.60) and third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:32.22)
- Freshman Abdullah Alghamdi (Dammam, Saudi Arabia) finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:39.24) and third in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle with times of 1:24.62 and 3:16.86, respectively
- GU didn't field any relay teams (200-yard medley or 200-yard freestyle)
- Immaculata had four men's swimmers compete on Friday

Gallaudet will make the short trip over to Arlington, Va., tomorrow (Saturday, Jan. 14) for another Atlantic East meet as the Bison swim against Marymount University (4-3, 3-0 Atlantic East).
