CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Gallaudet University men's basketball team ventured up to Wilson College here Tuesday night for its first NCAA Division III game this season. The Bison fell to the Phoenix, 72-55, in the non-conference tilt.
Gallaudet (0-1) had three different players in double digits led by junior guard Rory Lewis (Frederick, Md.), who made 3 of 5 shots from 3-point range and finished with a team best 15 points. Senior guard Preston Kelly (Indianapolis, Ind.) added 12 points, six rebounds and three steals. Junior forward Lance Wood (Fishers, Ind.) had 10 points off the bench and ripped down five boards for the buff and blue.
Wilson outscored the Bison by 11 points in the first half, 38-27, and poured in 34 additional points to GU's 28 in the second half.
The Phoenix were paced by forward Darryl Garib's double-double with 25 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.
UP NEXT
GU will make the short trip over to The Catholic University of America this weekend to participate in the Battle of D.C. & Maryland. The Bison will face the host Cardinals on Saturday, Nov. 19, at noon.
