Bison ace midweek test against Trinity Washington

WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University women's volleyball team coasted to a straight-set victory over Trinity Washington University here Tuesday evening at the Field House during Mental Health Awareness Week.

Gallaudet (11-10) had a strong service game as the Bison recorded a season-high 21 aces and posted one of their top attack percentage matches of all-time with a .735 percentage (39-for-49 with three errors). The Bison won easily 25-2, 25-24, 25-4 over Trinity (0-12).

Freshman outside hitter Citrine Lummer (Frederick, Md.) led the way with eight aces and four kills. The Bison cycled in everyone that was in uniform as 14 players saw action with some recording career and season-high marks. Sophomore setter Alyssa Glennon (Buda, Texas) passed out 25 assists and three aces to spell starting setter Emma Giuntoli (Austin, Texas), fresh off surpassing 2,500 career assists. Giuntoli added nine more assists and two aces in the win. 

Sophomore Hannah Weiss (Riverside, Calif.) matched a career-high for kills with seven while freshmen ZaniBelle Hoglind (Littleton, Colo.) and Jazelina Bumbala (Austin, Texas) tallied a career best marks for kills with six and five, respectively. 

Trinity was led by Danet' Harris' two kills and two digs.

  • Freshman Gisella Visco (Riverside, Calif.) served up three aces
  • Junior libero Leila Sicoli (Austin, Texas) made a match-high four digs
  • Prior to the start of the match the two teams came together for a photo together to promote Mental Health Awareness Week

Gallaudet will travel to Hood College (4-10) on Friday, Oct. 7, at 4 p.m. for a non-conference match.
