WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University men's swimming team lost 141-93 to McDaniel College here Saturday afternoon in the Field House pool.
McDaniel (2-6) won all 13 events it swam in as the Bison (1-3) won the 200-yard freestyle relay and had a handful of podium finishes.
Junior Barry McGrain III (Hemlock, N.Y.) finished second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:13.51) and was third in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly events with times of 1:17.66 and 3:01.45, respectively.
Freshman Bryant Gonzalez (Chicago, Ill.) just missed first place in the 50-yard freestyle as he touched the wall in 27.85 seconds just behind the first-place time of 26.43. Gonzalez placed second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:12.45) just ahead of McGrain in third.
Senior Rett Jala (McAllen, Texas) was second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:19.04) while sophomore Jerry Cruz (Washington, D.C.) placed second in the 100-yard freestyle (1:03.25). Fellow sophomore Naveh Berner-Kadish (Takoma Park, Md.) finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke (3:11.51) while junior Nick Hohrman (Fergus Falls, Minn.) placed second in the 500-yard freestyle (6:29.91) and third in the 200-yard backstroke (2:34.62).
Gallaudet's 200-yard freestyle relay team of junior Abe Polanco (Devine, Texas) and freshmen Chris Marin-Palafox (Sloatsburg, N.Y.), Jarius Evans (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) and John'Ta Price (Phoenix, Ariz.) closed out the meet with a time of 2:27.85.

- Senior Ben Sealts (Ottawa, Ohio) did not swim for the Bison today
- Sophomore Andrew Makarewicz (Gaylord, Mich.) finished third in the 1,000-yard freestyle (15:01.97) and 100-yard backstroke (1:29.21)
- Gonzalez finished third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:28.35)
- Freshman Payne Yance (Danville, Ky.) had several third-place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:34.92) and 200-yard breaststroke (3:25.88)
- Marin-Palafox placed third in the 500-yard freestyle (8:28.61)
- GU's 200-yard medley relay team of Makarewicz, Yance, McGrain and Cruz placed third and finished with a time of 2:23.66

This concludes Gallaudet's schedule for December. The Bison are off until January 2022 when they will next swim against Hood College in Frederick, Md., on Jan. 8 at 2 p.m.
