Box Score BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - Gallaudet University played a close non-conference game here Monday night against Bryn Athyn College but fell 78-69.
Gallaudet (0-5) took a brief lead midway through the second half and kept within striking distance of Bryn Athyn (1-4) for the entire game. The Bison held several one-point leads during a three-minute span between the 12th and 10th minutes of the second half. Bryn Athyn regained the lead for good and led by as much as eight points before GU cut the Lions' lead to four points, 59-55, at the 4:43 mark in the second half. That was as close as the Bison got the remainder of the game.
Freshman forward Brandon Chung (Kahului, Hawaii) led the Bison with 15 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double. Freshman guard Malosi Viena (Waipahu, Hawaii) came off the bench to score 14 points. Junior guard Corey Smith (Miami, Fla.) added 10 points and seven rebounds in the loss. Sophomore guard Rory Lewis (Frederick, Md.) finished with seven points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Bryn Athyn was led by guard Jamal Cannady Jr., who netted 23 points and six rebounds in the nine-point win. The Lions led 38-30 at the half.
