Box Score WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet Univerity men's basketball team welcomed Stevenson University and a big crowd to the Field House on Wednesday night for the 2021-22 home opener. The Bison played hard and stayed close to the Mustangs before the visitors pulled away and won, 63-54.
Gallaudet (0-2) fell behind Stevenson (3-1) early as the Mustangs built an early 11-2 lead before the Bison closed the gap to three points, 13-10, with eight minutes left before the half. Sophomore guard Rory Lewis (Frederick, Md.) drained a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the Bison into the half down, 31-24.
Lewis finished with a game-high 18 points, three rebounds, two steals, and one assist. Junior guard Cory Smith (Miami, Fla.) came off the bench to score 12 points to go with four rebounds, one block, and one steal.
Freshman guard Malosi Viena (Waipahu, Hawaii) had a game-high four steals, six points and six rebounds. Freshman guard Enow Otto Jr. (Waldorf, Md.) added seven points, five rebounds and two steals. Fellow freshman guard Shannon Cotto (Lakewood, Ohio) matched Otto Jr. with two steals and four points.
