ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Gallaudet University earned its first men's swimming win of the season as the Bison defeated St. Mary's College of Maryland, 122-109, here Saturday on the Cedar Crest College campus in an Atlantic East Conference meet.

Gallaudet used its team depth to its advantage as the Bison swimmers picked up key team points throughout the day. Senior Ben Sealts (Ottawa, Ohio) led the way with three wins. Sealts was first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.49), 500-yard freestyle (5:01.90) and 200-yard IM (2:03.76). Sealts' time in the 500-yard freestyle was over 30 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Sealts joined his teammates on the 200-yard medley relay to begin the meet as the Bison team placed second with a time of 2:05.54. 

GU's fourth first-place finish was in the 1,000-yard freestyle when junior Nick Hohrman (Fergus Falls, Minn.) won the event in 13:50.58. Hohrman finished second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:39.09) and third in the 500-yard freestyle (6:33.70). 

Senior Rett Jala (McAllen, Texas) was second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:19.93) and third in the 200-yard backstroke (3:05.42) and 200-yard butterfly (4:20.52).

Sophomore Peter Tran (Fountain Valley, Calif.) placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:34.58) and followed closely by freshman Payne Yance (Danville, Ky.) with a time of 1:36.41. Tran finished second in the 50-yard freestyle (37.52).

Sophomore Naveh Berner-Kadish (Takoma Park, Md.) was second in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 3:11.69 and third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:24.53).

Junior Barry McGrain III (Hemlock, N.Y.) finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:03.39.

Freshman Bryant Gonzalez (Chicago, Ill.) had his own second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (1:13.98).

• Gallaudet's 200-yard freestyle relay team finished second with a time of 1:58.98
• GU had two teams in the 200-yard medley relay that placed second (2:05.54) and third (2:29.77)
• Yance finished third in the 200-yard breaststroke (3:23.17)

GU is off for the next few weeks for the Thanksgiving break and will next swim on Saturday, Dec. 4, when the Bison welcome McDaniel College to the Field House pool for a 1 p.m. non-conference meet.
