WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University men's swimming and diving program came up short in a 109-74 loss to Marymount (Va.) University here Friday night in a non-conference meet.
The Bison (1-3) won five of the 11 events as sophomore Ben Sealts (Ottawa, Ohio) and freshman AJ Markel (University Park, Md.) won three and two events, respectively.
Sealts took home first-place in the 1,000-yard freestyle as he touched the wall in 10 minutes, 47.69 seconds. He completed his hat trick with first-place finishes in the 200-yard IM (2:06.89) and 100-yard backstroke (56.26).
Markel picked up two wins in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events with quick times of 24.06 and 54.78, respectively.
Freshman Barry McGrain III (Lakeville, N.Y.) was second in the 500-yard freestyle as he posted a time of 5:47.84.
BISON TRACKS
- GU's two relay teams finished second in both events
- Sophomore Abe Polanco (Devine, Texas) was second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (17:15.47)
- McGrain was third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.85)
- Sophomore Rett Jala (McAllen, Texas) was third in the 200-yard IM (3:21.59)
- Sophomore Xiangming Liu (Dandong, China) placed fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:49.88)

Gallaudet is now off until December when the Bison will host Goucher College on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 1 p.m. in a non-conference meet. This will be GU's final home meet for the fall semester.
