FROSTBURG, Md. - The Gallaudet University men's swimming team began the 2018-19 season on road Saturday at Frostburg State University and lost the non-conference meet, 143-90.
Sophomore Ben Sealts (Ottawa, Ohio) led the Bison with three individual wins as he took first in 100-meter butterfly (1:03.60), 100-meter backstroke (1:02.32) and 800-meter freestyle (9:20.34). Sealts was also a member of the 200-meter medley relay that finished fourth with a time of 2:18.68. GU's other three members of that relay included freshman Barry McGrain III (Lakeville, N.Y.) and sophomores Brian Podlisny (Sharon, Mass.) and Rett Jala (McAllen, Texas).
McGrain took second in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 5:25.34. He also finished fourth in the 200-meter freestyle (2:28.82) and fifth in the 100-meter backstroke (1:21.71).
BISON TRACKS
- Jala was third in the 50-meter backstroke (43.00)
- Podlisny was third in the 100-meter butterfly (1:20.47)
- Freshman Matty McQuinn (Lincoln, Neb.) was fourth in the 50-meter freestyle (40.87)
- Frostburg swam the last three events as an exhibition

Gallaudet dives back into the pool next Saturday, Oct. 20, as the Bison begin their home schedule with a meet against Bridgewater (Va.) College at 2 p.m.
