Box Score WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet men's soccer team started conference play here on a blistering hot Saturday afternoon at Hoy Field with a double overtime game that ended in a 3-3 draw against Wilson College. The Bison were on top for most of the game, but a late Wilson goal pushed the game into overtime.
With less than 10 minutes gone in the first half senior Conrad Baer (Fremont, Calif.) broke down the side of the field and crossed the ball into the center of the box where redshirt freshman Brian Espanto (San Antonio, Texas) was in position to head the ball into the back of the net.
Less than five minutes later, freshman forward Roel Gutierrez (Austin, Texas) added his name to the scorecard to put the Bison (1-1-1, 0-0-1 NEAC) up by two goals.
Wilson (1-1-1, 0-0-1 NEAC) found life in the 36th minute when Oliver Perry placed a shot into the bottom left corner of the net just off the fingertips of the Bison goalkeeper.
Both teams came out with extremely aggressive play in the second half. With the sun burning down on the field and after a Wilson goal in the 55th minute to tie the game, 2-2, tempers on both sides flared forcing the officials to distribute a total of five yellow cards in the remainder of the second half and overtime periods.
In the 67th minute Conrad Baer played the ball between two Wilson defenders to set up a breakaway for Gutierrez who powered a shot past the goalkeeper.
With regulation nearly expired, Wilson seized a potential last opportunity when Raihan Azim crossed the ball to Aaron Russ who headed it back to Kevin Lysaght who as able to find the back of the net to tie the game.
After two aggressive but scoreless overtime periods the game ended in a 3-3 draw.
