GU picks up first NEAC win of the season

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Gallaudet University men's basketball team earned its first win of the New Year as the Bison beat Bryn Athyn College, 75-56, here Thursday night in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game. Gallaudet (4-5, 1-2 NEAC) picks up its first conference win of the season as the Bison have won four of their last five games.

GU led from start to finish as it built an early lead and took a 36-25 advantage into halftime over the Lions (0-8, 0-2 NEAC).

The Bison shot a season best 54.7 percent from the field as they made 29 of 53 shots and 50 percent from 3-point range (6 of 12).

Gallaudet had four players in double figures led by junior center Joshua McGriff (Somerset, N.J.), who recorded a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds to go with three blocks. Senior guard Trey Gordon (Talladega, Ala.) made 5 of 8 shots from 3-point range as he tallied 16 points. Junior Raymond Nelson (Riverside, Calif.) and Shawn Harrington (Frederick, Md.) came off the bench to score 13 and 12 points, respectively. Harrington completed his first double-double with 11 rebounds.

Troy Steed led the Lions with 13 points as three different players reached double figures.

UP NEXT
Gallaudet returns home to face Penn College in a NEAC game at the Field House on Saturday, Jan. 9, at noon. The Bison lost 71-64 at Penn College last month in the conference opener.
