Bison keep it 100, wallop Wilson

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Gallaudet University broke the century mark here Wednesday night with a 109-72 victory over Wilson College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) South Division men's basketball game. Gallaudet (8-5, 5-2 NEAC) has now won five straight games and eight of its last nine games.

The Bison had four players score in double figures, led by junior center Joshua McGriff (Somerset, N.J.) with his season-high 23 points and six rebounds. Junior guard Raymond Nelson (Riverside, Calif.) was one point (22) behind McGriff as he added five rebounds, two steals and two assists off the bench. Senior guard Trey Gordon (Talledega, Ala.) and sophomore forward Andy Cruz (Bronx, N.Y.) added 17 and 15 points respectively. Senior guard Todd Bonheyo (Frederick, Md.) led the team in rebounds with eight, matching his season high. GU emptied the bench as 14 different players saw action.

Gallaudet shot a season best 55.4 percent from the field (41 of 74) and outrebounded Wilson 50-31. The Bison scored 42 points in the paint and scored 18 second-chance points. GU led 55-39 at the half.

Wilson (3-9, 2-5 NEAC) was led by Marqwon Wynn's 17 points, three rebounds, three steals and one assist.

  • The 109 points scored is the most since GU netted 113 in a 125-113 triple overtime loss to Averett in the GU Holiday Tournament consolation game on Nov. 24, 2001

UP NEXT
The Bison are slated to host Cazenovia College and Morrisville State College this weekend at the Field House. An official decision on the status of these games will be made on Thursday.
