ARLINGTON, Va. - The Gallaudet University men's swimming and diving team lost a non-conference match, 111-41, here Friday night at Marymount (Va.) University.
Gallaudet (1-6) was led by a trio of swimmers in juniors Ryan Klock (Payullup, Wash.) and Xuan Lin (Mount Prospect, Ill.) along with freshman Gideon Firl (Frederick, Md.). Klock was third overall in the 200-yard individual medley as he touched the wall in two minutes, 39.48 seconds. Firl was fourth in the 50 freestyle (24.57 seconds) and 100 butterfly (1:04.12). Firl was just over a second behind Marymount's Matthew Essig, who won the 50 free in 23.10 seconds. Lin earned nine team points in the 100 breaststroke as he finished in 1:23.76.
Marymount (2-2) won the first eight events and didn't look back en route to the 70-point win. The Saints swept first, second and third place in three different events.
