Box Score WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University men's soccer team won it's first home game of the season here Saturday as it shutout North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foe SUNY Cobleskil, 3-0, at Hoy Field on homecoming weekend.
The win is the first in a month for Gallaudet (2-12-2, 1-10 NEAC), as it wipes away a 10-game winless streak, and the first in conference play this season for the buff and blue. SUNY Cobleskill drops to 0-15 overall and 0-9 in conference play.
GU took control of the game early but didn't score the first goal until four minutes left before halftime. Sophomore midfielder Tim Artinian (Henrietta, N.Y.) tipped the ball to junior Rood Metellus (Bedford, N.Y.), who buried the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal.
GU went into the half with the 1-0 advantage and the energy to keep the game rolling for the final 45 minutes of play. Junior Conrad Baer (Fremont, Calif.) scored his fourth and fifth goals of the season at the 68:47 and 87:23 marks, respectively. The first goal was assisted by Artinian while the second goal was unassisted.
