Bison pull away from Penn St.-Abington en route to 84-73 win

ABINGTON, Pa. – The Gallaudet University men's basketball team overcame a slow start and outscored Penn St.-Abington, 50-37, in the second half to pick-up a North Eastern Athletic Conference South Division win, 84-73, on the road Tuesday night.

Gallaudet (6-2, 2-0 NEAC South), who is currently ranked No. 1 in Division III for field goal percentage defense, was able to cool off a hot shooting Nittany Lion squad that scored the game's first nine points and later led 21-9 in the first half. Penn St.-Abington (2-7, 1-1 NEAC South) took a 36-34 lead into intermission.

Junior Trey Gordon (Talladega, Ala.) scored a game-high 29 points as he made 5 of 8 shots from three-point range and grabbed seven rebounds. Sophomore Joshua McGriff (Somerset, N.J.) made 8 of 11 shots for the Bison down low as he tallied 17 points, five rebounds and made one block. Sophomore Raymond Nelson (Riverside, Calif.) added 10 points and five rebounds while senior Ben Coleman (St. Paris, Ohio) added nine points, three rebounds and three assists.

The Nittany Lions were paced by Dequan Jackson's 25 points off the bench while Max Alton and Michael Davis added 18 and 16 points, respectively.

GU returns home to host Bryn Athyn College (0-9, 0-2 NEAC South) on Thursday, Jan. 8, at 8 p.m.
