COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The Gallaudet University men's and women's swimming and diving teams got a sneak peek at the 2015 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championship venue when the Bison swam at SUNY Cobleskill's pool on Saturday. The Bison have just over two months before they return to Fighting Tigers' pool for the conference championships.

Gallaudet will hope for better outcomes in its return trip, in two months for conference championships, as the Bison men's team was swept by NEAC foes Wells College (122-111), the host Fighting Tigers (197-65) and non-conference opponent Alfred State (147-98). GU is the defending NEAC champions.

On the women's side, Gallaudet defeated Alfred State 176-44 but lost to conference foes Wells (143-108) and Cobleskill (209-69).

Sophomore Matthijs Wubbolts (Groningen, Netherlands) won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:34.23. Three spots back was teammate Xuan Lin (Fulton, Ill.) as he touched the wall with a new personal best time of 3:09.36. Wubbolts placed second in the 50 freestyle (24.28 seconds) and was fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:05.79). Junior Abdiel Davila-Cruz (Orlando, Fla.) placed second in the 100 butterfly (1:04.41) and was fourth in the 400 IM (5:31.69). Freshman Nathan Parkin (Elgin, Ill.) finished third in the 1,000 freestyle (16:02.83).

Senior Katie Giles (Gaithersburg, Md.) led the women's team with two second-place finishes. Giles was second to the wall in the 50 freestyle (29.14) and 200 breaststroke (2:57.89). Junior Brianna Stroud-Williams (Tucker, Ga.) finished second in the 1,000 freestyle (14:16.82) and sophomore Thyra Wood (Great Falls, Mont.) was second in the 100 backstroke as she finished with a new personal record time of 1:16.08. Wood also placed fourth in the 100 freestyle (1:05.79).

The Gallaudet swim teams are off until the new year when the Bison will next dive into the pool on Jan. 16 in York, Pa., to compete against Penn St.-Altoona and the host Spartans from York (Pa.) College at 6 p.m.
