Box Score 3 WASHINGTON – Gallaudet University men's volleyball hosted a quad tournament at the Field House on Saturday with Siena Heights University, City College of New York and Penn St.-Altoona in the final home matches of the season for the Bison. GU was swept by all three opponents, 3-0, as the Bison fell to 1-14 on the season.
Gallaudet lost its first match in the morning with Penn St.-Altoona 9-25, 7-25, 22-25. Sophomore outside hitter Manuel Rivero (Lima, Peru) led the Bison with seven kills, one assist and a pair of service aces. Freshman outside hitter Isaac Flink (Vancouver, British Columbia) had 15 assists for the Bison with one kill. Freshman libero James Wilson (Tucson, Ariz.) added eight digs.
The Bison went 13-25, 7-25, 9-25 against CCNY in the second match on the day. Rivero led the Bison with four kills and four digs while Flink added 13 assists, Wilson had nine digs.
In Gallaudet's third and final match of the day, against Siena Heights the Bison lost all three sets by the same 12-25 score. Wilson was forced to switch from libero to middle back after an injury left the team shorthanded. He finished the match with seven digs and two assists. Rivero led the Bison with eight assists and two kills. Freshman outside hitter Andrew Biskupiak (Frederick, Md.) led the team with four kills to go with three digs and one assist. Senior middle hitter Cody Pedersen (Newark, Calif.) had three kills for the Bison.
Siena Heights (7-9) won all three of its matches on the day as they defeated CCNY 25-14, 25-19, 25-12 and Penn St.-Altoona 25-16, 25-18, 25-20 to go with the Saints' win over the Bison. Penn St.-Altoona (7-16) beat CCNY (8-9) in the only match not to finish in three sets as the Nittany Lions won 25-15, 25-27, 25-12, 25-18.
Gallaudet will play in a tri-match with Siena Heights and Washington Adventist University tomorrow (Sunday, March 10) at noon and 2 p.m. in Takoma Park, Md.
