WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University men's volleyball team returned to the Field House on Tuesday night to host a tri-match with North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foe Lancaster Bible College and non-conference foe Washington Adventist University. The Bison dropped both matches in straight sets but showed a lot of improvement from the start of the season.

Gallaudet (0-6, 0-1 NEAC) almost won its first set of the season in its match against Lancaster Bible. The visiting Chargers (4-4, 1-0 NEAC) took the first set 25-22 and followed that with set wins of 25-15 and 25-6 to earn their first conference win of the season. Lancaster Bible then defeated Washington Adventist (1-3) in straight sets.

Sophomore Manuel Rivero (Lima, Peru) led the Bison with six kills followed by freshmen Andrew Biskupiak (Frederick, Md.) and Isaac Flink (Vancouver, British Columbia) tallied four kills apiece. Biskupiak made five digs and a team best two service aces, matched by Flink (six assists). Freshman libero James Wilson (Tucson, Ariz.) made a game-high 10 digs. Freshman Michael Korleski (Wilmington, Del.) passed out six assists in the loss.

Mitch Demko led the Chargers with 11 kills while Alex Bahn passed out 19 assists and made five digs.

In the second match for the Bison against Washington Adventist the home team held their own against the Division II program. GU lost the first two sets by the same 20-25 margin, dropped the last set 17-25 in a highly competitive match.

Sophomore Ryan Poindexter (Austin, Texas) led the Bison with seven kills while Rivero notched six kills and block assists. Flink passed out 11 helpers and made five digs while Wilson led the team with eight digs.

Paul Lim and Jordhon Horelien paced Washington Adventist as the pair recorded nine kills each and six and five digs, respectively. Kyle Christiansen tallied 19 assists and five kills in the win.

The Bison are off for a few weeks before traveling to Jersey City, N.J., for an invitational hosted by New Jersey City University on Saturday Feb. 23.
