Box Score 4 NEW YORK – The Gallaudet University men's
volleyball team dropped all four matches this past weekend in New
York in straight sets. The Bison (0-10) lost to City College of New
York 12-25, 6-25, 22-25 on Sunday. The day before the Bison
played three matches at New Jersey City University and faced Penn
St.-Behrend (11-25, 10-25, 5-25), Lehman (22-25, 11-25, 26-28) and
the host Gothic Knights from NJCU (6-25, 18-25, 18-25).
The Bison set a program record for points in a set when
Gallaudet recorded 26 in the third and final set against Lehman.
Sophomore middle hitter Eric
Setzer (Middletown, Md.) led the Bison with six kills
and freshman libero James
Wilson (Tucson, Ariz.) added 10 digs and had a pair of
service aces.
GU's match-up with Penn St.-Behrend, a second-year program, saw
the Lions hold the Bison to 11 or fewer points in every set. Wilson
recorded eight digs while the team only had eight kills.
Gallaudet wrapped up Saturday's NJCU Quad with a tough match
against the host Gothic Knights. Wilson and freshman Isaac
Flink (Vancouver, British Columbia) finished with 10
digs each while sophomore Manuel
Rivero (Lima, Peru) led the team with two service aces
and three kills.
Wilson led the team with 11 digs on Sunday against CCNY (4-4).
Freshman Andrew
Biskupiak (Frederick, Md.) had four kills and six
digs while Rivero tallied a team best five kills and one service
ace.
Gallaudet will next compete on Saturday, March 2, at the Wells
College Invitational where the Bison will play North Eastern
Athletic Conference foes Wells and Cazenovia College.
