Bison fall apart in the second half on the road against Goucher

Box Score

WASHINGTON – Gallaudet University men's basketball took an early lead but were unable to hang on as the Bison dropped their non-conference game, 60-45, at Goucher College on Saturday night.

The Bison (1-7) came out firing as junior guard Ben Coleman (St. Paris, Ohio) hit a 3-pointer 45 seconds in to give GU a 3-0 lead. Gallaudet was able to further its lead to 12, 23-11, with an 11-2 run with 12:12 left in the half. The Gophers were able to weather the storm and fight back as they ended the half on a 17-5 run, knotting the score at 28 at intermission.

The Gophers (4-3) carried their momentum into the second half as they went on a 21-7 run, taking the Bison out of the game. Junior guard Anton Jackson (Detroit, Mich.) did his best to bring Gallaudet back as he scored all seven points, including two 3-pointers, during Goucher's run. After calling a timeout, the Bison attempted to compose themselves as they went on a 5-0 run but Goucher was too much as it maintained their double-digit lead to close out the game.

Gallaudet was led by Jackson as he scored 13 points. Coleman added two threes of his own in addition to four rebounds. Freshman Joshua McGriff (Somerset, N.J.) played tough down low as he scored 11 points, grabbed seven boards and recorded a block.

The Gophers were led by guard Alex Noble who scored a game-high 18 points. Guard Julian Livingston helped Goucher take the lead as he drained two shots from downtown en route to his nine points.

The Bison return home following winter break to host non-conference opponent Swarthmore (4-5) on Sunday, Jan. 5, at 2 p.m.
