ROANOKE, Va. – The Gallaudet
University men's and women's swimming and diving teams
traveled to Hollins University for their third meet of the season.
The men competed against Greensboro College, while the women
competed in a double dual meet against Greensboro and the host
Hollins University.
The Gallaudet women (1-3) split the day with a 107-98 win
against Hollins and 79-118 loss to Greensboro. Junior Alexandra Polivanchuk (Orebro,
Sweden) finished second in the 50-yard freestyle (27.21) and the
100-yard freestyle (58.77). She also placed third in the 1,000-yard
freestyle with a time of 12:25.32. Fellow junior Lisa Murphy (Bothell, Wash.)
placed second in the 200-yard IM (2:42) and the 100-yard backstroke
(1:13). Freshman Molly Verseput (Upland, Calif.) earned
second in the 200-yard freestyle clocking in at 2:19.
Juniors Alyssa Gleason (Springfield, Va.)
and Katie
Giles (Gaithersburg, Md.) along with
sophomore Paige
Foreman (Albuquerque, N.M.) and
freshman Thyra Wood (Great Falls,
Mont.) made up the women's 200-yard medley team that placed
second trailing Greensboro College.
The men's team (0-3) was led by senior DJ Everton-Lovell (Norfolk, Va.)
who placed first in the 200-yard IM (2:24) and 100-yard backstroke
(1:03). He also placed second in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a
time of 11:57.37. Sophomore Maurice Abenchuchan (St.
Augustine, Fla.) earned first place in the 100-yard freestyle at
56.29. Junior Abdiel Davila-Cruz (Orlando,
Fla.) clocked in at 1:10 to earn second in the 100-yard
backstroke.
The men's and women's teams host Penn St.-Altoona on
Saturday, Nov. 9, at 1 p.m. at the Field House.
