Box Score FRONT ROYAL, Va. – Gallaudet University
swept the season series with Christendom College as the Bison men's
basketball team defeated the Crusaders, 83-58, on the road
Wednesday night. The Bison have won three straight games as they
begin the final stretch of the regular-season.
Gallaudet (10-9) and Christendom (3-11) ran up-and-down the
court in a very fast first half as both teams pushed the ball.
Senior forward Layton
Seeber (Champaign, Ill.) scored 18 in the first half
to lead the Bison. He finished the game with 20 points, four
rebounds, four assists and two steals. Fellow senior Brandon
McMillan (Frederick, Md.) also reached double figures
in the opening frame as he poured in 14 points and grabbed five
rebounds as Gallaudet took a 12-point lead, 49-37, into halftime.
McMillan led all-scorers with 22 points and six rebounds
In the second half, Bison fans got a glimpse of the future as
Gallaudet coach Jeb Barber emptied the bench and
allowed five key reserves to log valuable playing minutes, 12
players saw action in the win. Freshman forward Ben Coleman
(St. Paris, Ohio) scored a career-high nine points, all off
three-pointers (3 of 5) in the second half.
Christendom received balanced scoring as three different players
reached double figures while 14 players saw action in the loss. Joe
Walsh led the Crusaders with 14 points and four rebounds while
forward Brian Fox, Christendom's big man, was limited to 10 points
due to early foul trouble. Brian McCrum came off the bench to
record a double-double as he scored 11 and grabbed 14 rebounds.
The two teams were even on rebounds (41) while GU scored 26
points off 24 Christendom turnovers. The Bison shot 46.5 percent
from the field (33-for-71) and made seven three-pointers.
GU defeated Christendom in Washington, D.C., 86-56 back on Nov.
22, 2011, in the fourth game of the season.
The Bison will hit the road this weekend to face Morrisville St.
in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game on Saturday,
Feb. 4, at 1 p.m.
