ROANOKE, Va. – The Gallaudet University
men's swimming team dropped its double dual meet Saturday on
the road at Hollins University. The Bison lost 63-26 to Greensboro
College and 76-18 to Hampden-Sydney College.
Freshman Tyler Bastian (Racine, Wis.) was the
top swimmer for GU as he won the 100-yard freestyle and came in
second in the 50 freestyle. In his first event, the 50 free,
Bastian just missed first place by a tenth of a second as he
touched the wall in 23.87 seconds. Hampden-Sydney's Andy Snow
won the event in 23.78 seconds. Bastian took first in the 100 free
with a time of 52.76 seconds.
Junior Ramanth Shenoy (Dale City, Va.) had two
third-place finishes in two different freestyle events. He finished
the 500 free in six minutes and 40.49 seconds while he placed third
in the 1,000 free in 13:46.71.
Hampden-Sydney defeated Greensboro, 62-33, in the other
head-to-head scoring.
Gallaudet will next compete in a double dual meet at Goucher
College in Towson, Md., against Arcadia and Gophers.
